Introduction
Munchkins Pre-School was established in its present form in 1992 and supports
the needs of children and families in the immediate area and further a field.
The facility is set within the grounds of St Luke's Primary School and has the
sole use of a new purpose built modular building specially designed for pre-school
children that stand separate from the main school. We have use of the extensive
outdoor play areas and the school hall for other activities. The pre-school is
registered for 40 children each day in two Classrooms.
The pre-school runs with a staff child ratio of one adult to four/five
children. There are at present seven members of Staff with appropriate
childcare qualifications and up to date first aid certificates. The
setting supports children with Special Educational Needs and children
with English as an Additional Language. We hold regular parents/carers
consultations.
The setting receives regular input from the Education and Childcare
Advisory Service. As the setting is in a central location and has close
links with the local community we have the opportunity to visit many
places and take part in different activities, e.g. park, nature walks,
garden centre, church, library, and fire station. Annually we have
summer, Easter and Christmas events.
School photographs are taken in April. The children in the pre-school
celebrate different festivals throughout the year.
